Penmar Club Prizes Go Digital
Penmar Golf Club (PGC) began issuing quarterly e-gift certificates to winners of tournaments. Thanks to Craig Jaffe, club treasurer, for doing the legwork to turn the board's resolution into a reality! Also, PGC wishes to thank all golfers who used the Golf Genius scoring app during their rounds. This helped officers more quickly process tournament results.

We are hosting regular tournament play twice a month, as well as away days at other courses and our highly popular annual Match Play Events.
For 2026, PGC is planning two match play tournaments, a four-club tourney at Penmar, away events at fellow muni courses including Rancho Park, Harding,

For 2026, PGC is planning two match play tournaments, a four-club tourney at Penmar, away events at fellow muni courses including Rancho Park, Harding, Wilson, Balboa, Encino and Hansen Dam, as well as possibly the first best-ball partner tournament in a long time.

Big Congrats to Mark Davidson (R), who won his third straight Penmar Match Play Invitational Title with a victory over good friend Harrison Hodgin (L) in an 18-hole final under sunny blue skies at Penmar By The Sea in December 2025.

Mark, a sales and marketing professional in the medical products industry, won a $150 gift certificate as well as free entry into the LA city golf championship to be held in June 2026.
The match play tournament was open to club members with an official USGA GHIN (golf handicap index) of 11 or under.

Congrats to Mark Dias, who shot an even-par 33 and won the Sorenstam Flight for low gross score.
Alim Shamji took top gross honors in the Zaharias Flight with a 4-over 37, one shot less than Ravi Shankar.

Hello golfers of West LA! Did you know Penmar Golf Club not only holds monthly Thursday and Saturday tournaments but it also holds events at a few city courses in LA County? On Sept. 4 the club made its annual visit to Rancho Park Golf Course, former longtime venue of the Los Angeles Open. Congrats to Matt Jaffe who scored a 4-over 75 from the white tees for the top gross score.

Penmar Golf Club thanks all who supported a joint campaign with Verdant Venice Group (VVG) to plant 32 native oak trees at the unused northeast corner near Hole 8's alternate tee box. With support from Penmar Ladies Club and The Penmar Restaurant, we hit our goal of $3,500 in just 2 weeks! The native coastal oaks have been planted along t

James Batley is the 2025 champion of the Penmar President's Cup, a 64-player handicap-based match play tournament held every year by the Penmar Golf Club. James beat Chip Goebert 3 and 2 in the final. Earlier in the year, Dave Chung (above) received the 2024 President's Cup trophy from club president.
